Metropolis Convergence LA

Responsive Art Driven by Data

Harnessing real-time data, the Metropolis Convergence LA display is a revolutionary new form of public art using generative content to create a constantly changing cinematic narrative of Los Angeles. StandardVision created the systems and hardware necessary to support artists Susan Narduli and Refik Anadol’s visionary concept to create a high resolution digital monument that evokes a rich, data-driven art experience.

State of The Art Lighting Integration

The Metropolis LED display was custom designed using StandardVision’s proprietary blade system to meet transparency requirements without reducing the quality of the artwork. The display is also the world’s first architectural media installation utilizing a state-of-the-art 380-Volt DC power system that significantly improves overall energy efficiency, thereby lowering overall operating costs over the life of the display.

The project fuses art and technology, capturing the culture of Los Angeles and reflecting this back into the surrounding neighborhood. It creates a lively public environment by giving urban activities a new experiential dimension that engages pedestrians, residents, tourists and visitors alike.

A First of its Kind

Metropolis boasts the first LED display in Los Angeles dedicated to generative art. The display is a canvas for the property’s ConvergenceLA public art display that explores new ways of storytelling through an intelligent platform that expresses and responds to the culture and spirit of Los Angeles in a seamless fusion of digital content, public space and urban life.
